Bringing together ministries to youth, families, parish support, and communications, the Evangelisation office seeks to support the encounter with Christ in the midst of the Church. About the Role The primary purpose of the Sacramental Life and RCIA Coordinator is to promote and support a vibrant sacramental life within the Archdiocese. The Coordinator develops formation and catechetical opportunities on sacramental themes; provides training to support parishes in the preparation for the Sacraments of Initiation and develops policies and guidelines related to the sacraments and the RCIA. The role works under the direction of the Team Leader for Life, Marriage and Family and as part of the Sydney Centre for Evangelisation Team. This role is a permanent full-time position and is based in the Polding Centre, located in the Sydney CBD. Only candidates with the right to work in Australia may apply for this position. Responsibilities The primary responsibilities of the Sacramental Life and RCIA Coordinator will be responsible for but not limited to the following duties: • Promote a vibrant sacramental life within the Archdiocese. • Plan and implement formation programs and workshops which support the coordination of the reception of the Sacraments of Initiation within parishes. • Establish a collaborative relationship with Sydney Catholic Schools with a view to introducing uninitiated parents and families to the sacramental life of the Catholic Church. • Provide training in policies and guidelines related to the sacraments and the RCIA. • Develop and implement Archdiocesan sacramental policies and pastoral guidelines, norms and resources in the area of the sacraments and the RCIA process as requested by the Archbishop through the Director and Team Leader and promote their implementation. Selection Criteria The ideal candidate should satisfy the following selection criteria: • A personal commitment to Catholic teachings, faith, ethos, values and mission of the Catholic Church; • Sound knowledge of the Rites of the Church, with an understanding of their pastoral and missionary applications; • Experience in parish life, particularly in the development of sacramental preparation and activities; • Relevant tertiary qualifications in sacramental theology, education or equivalent experience • A comprehensive knowledge of sacramental life and RCIA requirements; • Ability to work collaboratively and consultatively across a wide spectrum of stakeholders; • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to reprioritise and reorganise priorities; and • Will be required to obtain a valid Working with Children Check.
